An AE faculty member the past 22 years, including seven years as Department Head, Bragg has been Executive Associate Dean for the College since 2008. In that capacity, he oversees all faculty issues in the college, including hiring and retention, promotion, tenure, and awards; manages resource planning in the college; and supports the Dean in the college’s strategic planning and global initiatives.

An Illinois alumnus, Bragg earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in AE at Illinois in 1976 and 1977, respectively. He earned his PhD in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from the Ohio State University in 1981, and initially served there as an assistant and then an associate professor in the department. His research interests focus on aerodynamics and flight mechanics, with primary application to the effect of aircraft icing.

Bragg has been a Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) since 2004, and received the AIAA Aerodynamics Award in 2007. Bragg completed a term as AIAA vice president of publications in May.
